Intel asusual first but AMD (advanced micro devices) end up fourth!!

Long story short, AMD came up short compared to three other companies.

While Intel came first, as expected, Advanced Micro Devices did not make second spot, or even third.

Those positions went to Qualcomm and Samsung, respectively, as shown in the table above.

Thus, AMD is on fourth place, after suffering a 21% drop in microprocessor sales.

Speaking of which, Intel also lost, 1% on-year, while Qualcomm's sales grew 28% and Samsung's shipments soared 78%. Samsung has definitely managed to sell lots of mobile chips.

In 2013, things aren't looking up for AMD. Already, Q1 has showed the steepest decline ever in a single quarter.

Market analyst firm IC Insight has finished its study of the year 2012, and discovered a surprising thing about the top rankings in terms of total semiconductor sales throughout the 12-month period.

Apple iPhone 6! Liquid Metal Chasis Confirmed!

Apple is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a “broad understanding of materials and manufacturing process such as joining (press lamination, gluing, heat staking),” according to the company’s web site.

Liquidmetal has been described as a combination of steel, glass and plastics, as it possesses key characteristics from these three materials, such as the hardness of steel, and the manipulability of plastics.

The new recruit needs to have understanding of part creation processes, such as “CNC milling/turning, injection molding, stamping, MIM, die casting, extrusion and sheet forming etc.”

The space-age Liquidmetal material is manipulated using these exact processes. The job advert doesn’t make this a certainty, but Apple could finally be ready to deliver the Liquidmetal iPhone this year.

Applicants also need to have experience with mechanical fabricated parts, jigs, fixtures, etc. Furthermore, “injection molding and plastics experience is a plus,” says Apple.

According to the people who invented the material, the amorphous alloy known as Liquidmetal is revolutionizing modern manufacturing by combining “the strength of forging with intricate molding capabilities superior to MIM (metal injection molding).”“Twice the strength of titanium, delivers repeatable molded features within ±50µm (±0.002”), and ultralow shrinkage rate of 0.2%,” according to Liquidmetal Technologies.

The company also mentions some similarities to glass, such as its “brittle” nature when stressed to the limit.

“Like most glasses, the yield strength of Liquidmetal Alloy is nearly identical to its ultimate tensile strength, meaning that when the material is stressed to its yield limit, rather than plastically deforming, it will break, and is therefore technically considered brittle, even though it is highly elastic (see below).”

Apple’s acquisition of Liquidmetal technology has long promised to yield something spectacular in the form of a jaw-dropping iPhone design, or a super-sleek MacBook casing.

The PlayStation 4 was confirmed to the world at the end of February, but Sony didn't actually reveal the final design of its next-generation home console.


Sony has just released the first video that teases the final design of the PlayStation 4 next-generation home console, showing brief glimpses of the device's looks.

Since then, Sony has kept the final version of the PS4 under a tight shroud of secrecy.

Now, the first teaser trailer of the PS4's final design has been released by Sony.

As you can see in the video above, the PS4 will retain the black color scheme of the current PlayStation 3 standard model, but it will boast quite a few other design elements.

No other details are known, but apparently the final design of the PlayStation 4 will be showcased at Sony's E3 2013 conference on June 10.

Jolla to Make a change in markets by revealing it's first ever Sailfish OS smartphone hich is supposed to be launched nearly in end of 2013!

The new stylish smartphone having a awesome OS is supposed to be launched in nearly end of this year.

According to the handset maker, the availability of its smartphone is subject to demand in local markets. It appears that the Jolla phone will be initially released in European countries with more countries to follow.


The device features a Jolla original design with ample 4.5-inch Estrade capacitive touchscreen display. It also packs a dual-core processor, but for now, there are no additional details on the type of CPU.

Jolla has also confirmed that its Sailfish-based smartphone will also be packed with 4G support, but supported countries will be defined closer to shipment date, so there’s no telling which regions will get this feature.
Those who wish to support Jolla by pre-ordering the smartphone will be able to do so for only €400/$515, including applicable VAT in Europe, but excluding shipping costs, duties and any local taxes. Check it out here.

Jolla’s Sailfish OS phone will be launched on the market with colorful replaceable casings that are called “Other Half.”

On the inside, the handset packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card. No word on the amount of RAM yet, but we expect it to come with at least 1GB of RAM.

There’s also an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, but there’s no mention of a secondary camera for video calls.

Given the fact that the smartphone features changeable back cover, Jolla phone’s battery is user-replaceable. It is powered by gesture-based Sailfish OS and is compatible with Android applications.


The latter has just been confirmed by the company, though Jolla encourages developers to start creating Sailfish apps in order to support the new operating system. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

A new flavor of the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone is now available for purchase, all dressed up in Gold, just as officially confirmed last week.

The handset, listed on this page on Goldgenie, sports a price tag of £1,597 ($2,474 / €1,884), as Pocket-lint notes in a recent article.

The Gold flavor of the Blackberry Q10 has been made available for purchase SIM-free and unlocked, while packing the same features as the original smartphone from the Canadian phone maker BlackBerry.

However, unlike that device, the new mobile phone comes to the market with a 24 carat gold bezel, while being delivered in a special luxury finish box.

“This truly unique and exquisite BlackBerry has a 24ct. Gold plated bezel around outside housing and 24ct. Gold integrated panel below key pad,” the company notes.

BlackBerry Q10, the first QWERTY-enabled smartphone to arrive on shelves with the new BlackBerry 10 operating system loaded on top, was officially released only a few weeks ago, and is currently available for purchase in a handful of countries.
The smartphone can deliver a 720 x 720 pixel resolution, sports 2GB of RAM, a dual-core processor, a microSD memory card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and built-in GPS receiver.

The specs list of the BlackBerry Q10 also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a front camera for making video calls, and all the features and capabilities that the new BlackBerry 10 operating system was released with.

Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia officially introduced a new device in its Asha lineup, one that comes with a full touch screen, namely the Asha 501.

The new device is the first in the new Asha 500 family, promising a new, fast, and appealing experience while on the go, courtesy of the new Asha platform loaded on it. It is supposed to break the highest record of google android platforms by making a debute around the world.

The new software is highly responsive, the company announced, adding that it comes with a redesigned touchscreen UI, with a dual homescreen view, as well as with the Nokia Xpress Browser pre-loaded.

There’s the traditional homescreen available on the new device, with the traditional icon-based view, along with a new, Fastlane view, which was designed to change in accordance with the device usage.

The Fastline offers “a record of how the phone is used, giving people a glimpse of their past, present and future activity, and helping them multi-task by providing easy access to their favorite features,” Nokia announced.

The handset also features double-tap to wake features, support for two SIM cards, with the possibility to switch between them without powering off the phone, as well as support for gestures, courtesy of functionality ported from MeeGo.

Nokia Asha 501 arrives on the market with a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display, with a single back button on the front, while packing a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

The handset measures 99.2 x 58 x 12.1 mm and weighs 98 grams, while packing a battery that can deliver up to 17 hours of talk time or up to 48 days of standby time with a single SIM card inside, or up to 26 days of standby time with two SIM cards inside.

Nokia Asha 501 also arrives with a variety of applications available for its users, including CNN, eBuddy, ESPN, Facebook, Foursquare, Line, LinkedIn, Nimbuzz, Pictelligent, The Weather Channel, Twitter, WeChat, World of Red Bull, WhatsApp, and more.

Additionally, the handset offers access to various games from Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Indiagames, Namco Bandai, and Reliance Games.

The new Nokia Asha 501 is set to arrive on shelves in India, Latin America, and Africa in June, featuring a price tag of $99 (€75) before taxes and subsidies. It will be released in Bright Red, Bright Green, Cyan, Yellow, White ,and Black.

According to Nokia, the handset is set to be available through around 60 operators and distributors in more than 90 countries worldwide.
